This teacher workshop focuses Economic Engagement and Financial Literacy for students.  Teachers will receive historic resources and contemporary tools for teaching about the subjects as well as delight in a keynote address from the author of a new book about how schools taught these subjects in a hands-on manner.

The workshop will feature hands-on learning through the Wells Fargo Financial Literacy Plan and use of Bank of North America documents that trace American economics and westward expansion from before the nation’s founding through the 20th century. Teachers will also be introduced to several political cartoons related to economics that they will be able to take home with them to use in their classrooms. These documents present interesting case studies for student use and all lessons will work in conjunction with PA Core standards.

The morning will conclude with our Thrift Week speaker Andrew Yarrow. He will discuss his new book Thrift: The History of an American Cultural Movement.
