HSP Acquires Diaries of Civil War Veterinary Surgeon The Historical Society of Pennsylvania recently acquired two collections related to siblings George F. Parry and Susan Parry, two pioneering medical professionals from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. George F. Parry was one of the first college-trained veterinary surgeons to serve during the Civil War. His diaries provide detailed and vivid accounts of his duties and daily life in the field as well as civilian life after the war. Historical Society Receives Grant from Mellon Foundation to Survey Small Archives The Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in support of Phase II of its Hidden Collections Initiative for Pennsylvania Small Archival Repositories (HCI-PSAR). Historical Society of Pennsylvania to Preserve Documents Tracing the Story of American Freedom Several of the country’s most significant documents will get new life and increased visibility thanks to a joint effort between the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and Bank of America.
