Tuesday, November 19 marks the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. In commemoration, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania is having a special document display and teacher workshop.
Register now  to attend the workshop that explores online and primary source resources for teaching about the Civil War. While only one major battle occurred in Pennsylvania, the Civil War affected everyone living in the Commonwealth in some way. In this workshop, we will showcase resources for teaching about the Civil War and how to use them to meet Common Core Standards for improving literacy from informational texts. The workshop will include a chance to see a new document display as well as to examine additional Civil War documents up close. Participants will take how free resources - including a copy of The Civil War in Pennsylvania. 
The document display - "Commemorating the Civil War" - will open to the public the same day and remain on view through the end of the year. In it, visitors may see printed programs, souvenirs and photographs from the dedication of the Soldiers' National Cemetery at Gettysburg as well as material from veteran reunions in the 1880s, 1913, and 1938.
