This collection contains sheet music collected by the Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies representing or created by members of a variety of ethnic groups. Many of the songs reflect stereotypes associated with various groups. A couple boxes in the collection contain only Greek sheet music, which is in a mix of Greek and English. Most prevalent among the rest of the collection is African-American spirituals, minstrel songs, and Jewish, Greek, Italian, Irish, and Scandinavian songs.
