Title: Project Conservation Technician

Position: Temporary, part-time (30 hours-a-week), limited-term (twenty-four months) position
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Summary of Position: The Project Conservation Technician, a member of the library staff, is responsible for working with manuscripts from the Bank of North America records and providing hands-on care. This is a part-time, limited-term (30 hours per week, Monday-Friday) position.  This Wells Fargo-funded position ends October 31, 2014.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor repairs, clean, and rehouse manuscripts from the Bank of North America records
  • Thoroughly document treatments performed
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements: B.A. in an art or science field (or equivalent experience), conservation training and experience required (including knowledge of book and flat paper repair, archival housings, and enclosures); strong organization and communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer applications preferred. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
