Researching Family in Pennsylvania, a week-long genealogy course designed to explore and explain the records and repositories available to family historians researching ancestors in Pennsylvania, will take place at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP) July 31 - August 4, 2017.
A part of HSP’s ongoing genealogy education made possible through its partnership with the Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, Researching Family in Pennsylvania places major emphasis on the collections of HSP. The collections of other libraries, repositories, and archives available for genealogical research in Pennsylvania will also be discussed, as well as highlighting the court records, deeds, tax lists, and online databases.
The course’s curriculum is guided by three primary questions:
- What records are available?
- Where are the records located?
- What information can be gleaned from the records?
At the conclusion of Researching Family in Pennsylvania, registrants will be able to answer these questions with confidence.
This course is designed for all levels of genealogical exploration, from those beginning to research their family history, to the advanced genealogist. A detailed curriculum is available here.
Presenters include Judy Russell, CGSM, CGLSM , Amy Arner, Aaron McWillliams, Lee Arnold, DLitt et Phil, Sue Long, Ph.D., and more.
