More Sources for Teaching History of Thrift

We just updated our inventory of thrift materials!  It now includes additional primary sources related to Sara Louisa Oberholtzer, the Superintendent of the School Savings Banks.  There are  letters to her from Girard College, the Philadelphia Public Schools, and the Indian Industrial School in Carlisle.  Also, there are letters to Oberholtzer from JlHl “School Savings Bank” Thiry, who brought the idea of the bank to the U.S. from Europe, and letters to Oberholtzer from the Women's Christian Temperance Union (one thanking her for raising the idea of a school savings division of the W.C.T.U. and the other informing her of her election as leader of that section.)
