Dr. Benjamin Rush

Rush was one of the American Founding Fathers. Born in Byberry, Pennsylvania, Rush was an influential physician, educator, politician, and humanitarian. He was a professor of chemistry and medicine at the College of Philadelphia and later the University of Pennsylvania, a member of the Continental Congress, signer of the Declaration of Independence, surgeon general of the Continental Army, and founder of Dickinson College.
