This reproduction of a journal entry by German Lutheran pastor Henry Muhlenberg describes “a large mob of frontier settlers … coming to Philadelphia to kill the Indian families who had been brought down from Bethlehem and taken under the protection of the government,” as well as the subsequent invocation of The Act of Riot (also known as An Act for Preventing Tumults).
