The main purposes of the Newtown Square Historical Society are to protect, preserve, and promote the historic resources of Newtown Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and the crossroads community known as Newtown Square, and to tell its story to its residents, children, and adults. The formation of the Society in 1984 resulted from the efforts of several Newtown Square residents who coordinated celebrations for the township's tricentennial in 1981. Newtown Square Historical Society's archival holdings comprise approximately 14 linear feet of materials dating from 1744 to the present. The materials include various original manuscripts, such as ledgers, photographs, letters, deeds, pamphlets, ephemera, maps, and newspaper clippings, as well as secondary-source materials and digital files that document the individuals, families, organizations, and landscape of Newtown Square.
