The Historical Society of Pennsylvania has printed facsimile copies of an 1865 cookbook, compiled by Philadelphia housewife Ellen M. Emlen.  At an event on November 16, guests sampled Emlen's gingerbread and meatball recipes and learned about Civil War era cooking.
