After graduating with a degree in History and English from Swarthmore College in June, I found my way into a Visitor Services Internship here at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Thus far, I have found it extremely rewarding to work directly with the public and utilize my writing and analytical skills on a number of projects related to the visitor experience!
As you can tell from my blog series "A Philly Foodie Explores Local History," I have an intense interest in food, much of which comes from my family's background in agriculture and a personal love of cooking and good food. At Swarthmore, I explored my overlapping interests in agriculture, food, and history through a Senior Research Project about Pennsylvania county and state fairs at the turn of the 20th century.
