At this event, presented by the Young Friends of HSP, guests will trace the history of cocktails from the ubiquitous rum punch of the 17th century all the way to the flirtini of 2012. Guest speaker Joseph Carlin, native Philadelphian and author of the newly released Cocktails: A Global History, will educate you on everything from liquor to mixers to ice, including how to make a classic punch. We will have some of our best libation-related documents out on display, and our neighbors at Spiga restaurant will provide an assortment of hors d'oeuvres and cocktails using recipes from Carlin’s book. After the program, Joseph Carlin will be signing copies of his new book, which will be available for sale. Proceeds from the event will support the Adopt-a-Collection program at HSP.
