Whether you are new to Ancestry.com or a longtime user, Ancestry Day is an event you don’t want to miss. Learn new ways to discover and celebrate your family history from Ancestry.com experts and find out more about the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, one of the largest genealogy centers in the country. This full day of classes will help you take your genealogy research further than ever before.

  • Sharing Your Family Story

Speakers will include Ancestry.com staff members Crista Cowan, Lisa Arnold, and Anna Swayne. All attendees will be entered in a raffle to win memberships to Ancestry.com and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, copies of Family Tree Maker, AncestryDNA kits, and other prizes. The day will also include a live Q&A panel featuring Ancestry.com and HSP experts. Submit your questions in advance by e-mailing them to conferences@ancestry.com prior to March 1, 2014. Ancestry Day ticket holders will enjoy free admission to the research library, free lectures and library tours, personal consultations with professional genealogists, and a welcome reception with an opportunity to chat with experts from Ancestry.com and HSP. Directions & Parking

The Pennsylvania Convention Center is located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia at 1101 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107. Ancestry Day will be held in the Grand Ballroom. Attendees should enter the Convention Center at the East Concourse entrance at the northeast corner of 12th and Arch Streets. Follow signs to the Grand Ballroom (located on the third floor).

The Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom is easily accessible by the SEPTA Market East Public Transit Station. From the station, follow signs to the Convention Center. Go up one flight to the street level (you will see PNC Bank, Dunkin Donuts, and the Hard Rock Cafe). Take the escalator up one additional flight which brings you to the entrance of the Convention Center. Follow signs to the Grand Ballroom.

For driving directions and locations of parking lots close to the Convention Center, visit the Convention Center’s website. Discounted parking on Saturday is available at several of the EZPark locations with a two or three block walk of the Convention Center. Parking is $6 for the day. To get the discount, attendees must show their Ancestry Day ticket to the parking attendant. This discount is available at the following locations:

  • 228 N. 12th Street. This lot spans from 12th to 13th Street along the south side of Vine Street. Enter from 12th Street onto Summer Street.
  • 244 N. 13th Street. This lot spans from 13th Street to Broad Street along the south side of Vine Street. Enter from 13th Street.

Hotels & Visitor Information

HSP has reserved discounted room rates for Friday, March 14, at several hotels close to the Convention Center. When booking a room, make sure to mention you are reserving for the Historical Society of Pennsylvania’s Ancestry Day to receive the special rate.
