Join us as bestselling author Cokie Roberts reads from her newly released children’s book Founding Mothers: Remembering the Ladies. Roberts will discuss the struggles to establish a nation as seen through the eyes of our nation’s women. In this lively and beautifully illustrated book based on her popular adult version, Roberts offers a much-needed and long overdue look at the wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters who helped forge our great country—from First Ladies Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, and Dolley Madison to lesser known figures like Eliza Lucas Pinkney, Deborah Franklin, and Mercy Otis Warren.

Roberts will share behind-the-scenes insights into the challenges they faced as well as the often overlooked contributions they made to our country’s birth. HSP President Page Talbott will lead a Q&A with Roberts after the book reading. Books will be available for sale.
