Get loud in the library this February with Swingin' at the Society as HSP transforms from a shushed library into a raucous dance hall. Dance the night away as the sounds of Jazz Age America fill HSP's halls with tunes from the Philadelphia-based band Bitters & Rye

Prior to cutting loose on the dance floor, frisk your whiskers with a presentation by music historian Jack McCarthy as he explores Philadelphia's prominence in jazz history with stories and images of the city's groundbreaking jazz artists.

Book your tickets now! Registration is limited to 60 people!

Bitters & Rye is a Philadelphia-based band focusing on jazz music from the 1920s and '30s. The group was formed when some friends began bringing their instruments to jam during local swing dances, and over time they became a go-to band for many events within the Philadelphia swing dance community. As they have grown, Bitters & Rye has enjoyed sharing the stage with some of the finest jazz musicians in Philadelphia, and continues to play for dances, weddings, and other functions throughout the area.
