Thrift Week
National Thrift Week is a public education campaign from January 17-23. It seeks to bring together educators and a broad coalition of citizen leaders who share an appreciation of thrift as the wise use of resources and a conviction that thrift is the friend of sustainable prosperity, broad economic opportunity, beautiful neighborhoods, and a healthy planet.
Thrift Week 2013
This year’s program on Saturday, January 26, focuses on thrift education. The program will features a demonstration of a model thrift lesson entitled “Thrift and Community Development,” a document display from HSP’s thrift archives, and a luncheon – all for free. Dr. Andrew T. Hill, Economic Education Advisor for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, will speak on “Personal Financial Education: What Research Tell Us.” Attending teachers will receive all materials for replicating the model lesson along with a copy of the Pennsylvania Legacies that features thrift. Four hours of Act 48 credit is available.
