Melding Media and Primary Sources: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Teaching Yellow Fever

Discover innovative, interdisciplinary ways to teach about Philadelphia's Yellow Fever epidemic of 1793, a topic all too relevant to today's news of Ebola. This workshop is in partnership with History Making Productions, who will provide lunch. Purchasing a ticket to this workshop makes one eligible for a discount on a Yellow Fever lecture 10/23.
National History Day Philly Kick-Off

Come learn how to institute National History Day in your classroom. This workshop is for teachers who have worked with the NHD program before as well as those who would like to learn about it for the first time. Sponsored by Beneficial Foundation.
Irish American History as a Way to Teach about Immigrant Experience
Wednesday, 11/19/14 4:30 – 6:00 pm
Learn how to teach about immigration through the experiences of 19th century Irish Americans. This workshop features a new cross-curricular lesson plan “Exploring Anti-Irish Attitudes.” Participants will also receive a copy of the Irish American-themed issue of Pennsylvania Legacies.
