Celebrate Thrift Week at HSP

2013-01-11 13:33

Thrift Week may be January 17-23, but we are celebrating it in a big way on Saturday, January 26!  That is when we are hosting Engaging Students in Thrift from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. You will leave with a free issue of the Pennsylvania Legacies magazine on the topic of thrift and materials for use in the classroom.

You will learn how to integrate the study of thrift—the ethic of hard work, savings, and generosity—into your classroom by

  • experiencing a demonstration of a model lesson taught by Philadelphia school teacher Bernadette McHenry,
  • learning about SAS  from Sally Flaherty of the Pennsylvania Department of Education
  • viewing historic thrift materials from HSP's archives,
  • being one of the first to learn of a new curriculum development contest,
  • being stimulated by the words of keynote speaker Dr. Andrew T. Hill, economic education advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and
  • enjoying a luncheon and conversation with colleagues.

The workshop is appropriate for educators at all levels and for all disciplines.  It is free, and Act 48 credits will be available.  Register online today to save your seat!
