As many small historical societies do not have an in-house conservator, this workshop will introduce archivists to conservation basics. Learn how to identify materials and make minor repairs. The three-hour course will also address adhesive basics, housing materials, and tape and mold issues. Participants will receive a take-home tool kit, including a micro spatula, water brush, chemical sponge, bone folder, pH test pen, and paper samples. The workshop will be taught by Tara O'Brien, director of preservation and conservation at HSP.
