HSP’s card catalog – the key to the manuscript collection – contains over one million individual, hand-written and typed cards with information about unpublished materials currently not searchable in Discover, HSP’s online catalog.
To make these manuscript collections accessible to researchers around the world, HSP has collaborated with FamilySearch, one of the world’s largest online genealogy databases, to digitize its card catalog.
As of winter 2015, the first phase of the initiative has been completed. Researchers are now able to "flip" through digital scans of HSP's card catalog. In the coming months, these scans will become indexed, allowing researchers to explore the card catalog using searchable terms and other metadata.
