In a city defined by two rivers, From the Schuylkill to the Hudson: Landscapes of the Early American Republic, an exhibition at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, explores the important and underexplored tradition of landscape painting in Philadelphia. When combined with primary source documents from HSP, teachers can use the paintings and sources as a lens for helping students understand concepts from art history, environmental science, and the history of urbanization, class and race in early American history.

Teachers will have a guided tour of the exhibition and participate in activities focused on visual analysis and critical thinking.  They will leave with samples of materials for their classrooms.

Participants are eligible for 3 hours of Act 48 credit.  Lunch is included.
