Become a Discussion Leader

The Art of Reintegration: Veterans and the Silences of War is seeking skilled facilitators who are enthusiastic about literature, veterans and the arts. We need professional individuals who can manage group dynamics in a calm and democratic manner. Our discussion leaders will be emotionally intelligent and trustworthy. We are more interested in your experience with handling groups than your educational background.

Discussion leaders will receive payment for their time ($200 per full training day, and $200 per event thereafter).

There will be a 5-day training program in July to prepare you to facilitate intimate, monthly conversation programs that will culminate in a panel discussion/presentation for a broader public audience. Please check the timeline below and confirm your availability before applying.

Timeline for discussion leaders
June 17: Application deadline for discussion leaders
June 22: HSP and Warrior Writers interview candidates
July 18-20, July 23-24: Training days, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
August 2018-March 2019: One discussion per month or every other month (skipping December)
April 2019: Participation in final public event

Discussion leaders will also be expected to repeat the program the following year, from August 2019 to May 2020.

TO APPLY: please send your resume and cover letter to veteranvoices@hsp.org by Sunday, June 17. Detail why you think you would be a good fit, your experiences with leading discussions, what you bring to the table, and why you are interested in this work.
