The Historical Society of Pennsylvania will be hosting a grand reopening celebration on Wednesday October 16, 2013, to unveil our redesigned lobby, library, and collection vaults.
We hope you'll stop by our library that day between 12:30 and 8 pm as we celebrate the completion of our $5.7 million renovation project. We'll be holding special promotions and free events throughout the day, including behind-the-scenes tours on the hour. You can learn more about the event here.
To coincide with our grand reopening, HSP is also hosting a Treasures from the Collection document display from October 16 through October 25.
The display will include rarely displayed items such as life portraits of William and Hannah Penn, the first handwritten draft of the U.S. Constitution, William Still's Underground Railroad journal, and censored correspondence from a Japanese internment camp.
There is no charge to view the display, and full details and hours are available here.
