Earlier this month, the HCI-PSAR team held a symposium at the Mercer Museum in Doylestown (Bucks County, Pennsylvania). Focused on the Bucks County repositories that have participated in our project, the symposium provided an overview of where our project is now, described what's ahead for HCI-PSAR, looked at our project's findings from the 23 Bucks County repositories we surveyed, and also explored various possible next steps for repositories to take now that they have received our report. We had an excellent turn out and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces. Many thanks to the folks at the Mercer Museum for allowing us to use their space for our event!

The last part of our presentation at the symposium was a slideshow entitled "What Do I Do Next? Resources for Small Archives" suggesting possible next steps for repositories to take to advance in the care and management of their archival collections. This presentation looked at a variety of scenarios that repositories may encounter including: what to do if you add to an existing collection, receive a new collection, decide to process (rehouse, arrange, and describe) a collection, start a digitization project, wish to establish a collecting policy, or you're interested in learning even more about archives and managing archival materials in general.

Seeing as how this particular slideshow could be useful to several of the repositories that have participated in our project, not just to those who were represented at our Bucks County Symposium, we have posted the slides from this 20 minute presentation to the Resources for Small Repositories section on our website. You'll see it listed under Archival Basics as "Next Steps for HCI-PSAR Participants."

In the coming month we hope to hold a similar symposium for participating repositories in Chester and Delaware counties, so keep an eye on our Facebook page and Twitter feed for an announcement!
