Partnering with the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA), HSP is excited to host a teacher workshop that will focus on the impact of the First World War and the visual culture that the conflict inspired.
The workshop will explore how the war affected individuals in the trenches, and at home. Participants will engage with art created by veterans, aerial photographs of the battlefield, and propaganda. The primary source documents will encourage educators to consider new ways of teaching as we approach the centennial of the United States' involvement in World War I.
Please note that we will meet in the morning at PAFA, with the afternoon session taking place at HSP. Lunch and a guided walking tour between the two institutions is provided for all participants. Participating teachers will receive Act 48 credit and ready-made lesson plans to take back to their classrooms.
