During this workshop just for teachers, we will examine various methods for incorporating primary sources into the classroom. After a discussion of a variety of strategies, we will join in on a workshop to piece together a story of how an assassin from Wurttemburg, Germany shows up with U.S. troops during the Mexican –American War. Anne Marie Ackerman, author of the recently released book Death of an Assassin, will share sources she found in German and American libraries as we all put on our detective hats to solve the mystery of archival research. In addition, teachers will increase their knowledge about the War and how immigrants were welcomed into the U.S. armed forces at that time.
When you register, check for Educator's Ticket for a discount on the ticket price. For attendance at the workshop, you can receive 3 credits for Act 48 continuing education. The workshop runs 5:30-8:30 p.m.
