Accommodation
Participants can reserve lodging one block away from HSP at the Holiday Inn Express Philadelphia in Center City, where there is a negotiated partner rate of $139/night, plus tax. Visit the hotel's website for more information and booking. Mention HSP when booking to receive the discount.

Note on Stipend:  Summer Scholars are offered a stipend for participation in the project ($1300). The stipend is intended to assist in in covering travel, housing, meals, and basic academic expenses.  Those who, for any reason, do not complete the full tenure of the project will receive a reduced stipend. 

Philadelphia Attractions
Philadelphia is an historic city with a plethora of sights and activities to enjoy. Please note, your schedule during the institute is robust and quite full. If you are interested in taking advantage of what Philadelphia has to offer, consider planning such outings before or after the week of the institute. Transportation
Philadelphia is accessible by car and public transit. Below are instructions for reaching HSP's address via public transportation. Air Travel
HSP is served by the Philadelphia International Airport.  There is a SEPTA train that connects the airport with Suburban and Jefferson Stations, each with a few blocks of HSP.

Train
The Amtrak station in Philadelphia is 30th Street Station. From there, one can use the subway or Regional Rail system to reach HSP.

SEPTA is Philadelphia's mass transit system. Within the region, take any SEPTA Regional Rail line into Market East Station. From the station, walk four blocks south on 12th Street to Locust Street. Then turn right and walk one block west on Locust to 13th Street. If you prefer to ride the train into Suburban Station, you may walk past City Hall south on Broad Street to Locust, where you turn left and walk two blocks.

Bus Route

Subways
If you are taking the Broad Street Subway that runs north and south through Philadelphia, exit at the Walnut & Locust stop and walk two blocks east on Locust Street to reach HSP.

If you are taking the Market-Frankford Subway that runs east and west through Philadelphia, exit at the 13th & Market stop and walk four blocks south on 13th street to reach HSP. 

If you are taking the high-speed PATCO train line that runs between Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia, exit at the 13th & Locust stop.  HSP is located on the southwest corner of this street intersection.
