This is a portrait of William Hamilton and Ann Hamilton Lyle (his niece) by Benjamin West, from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania art and artifact collection. Hamilton was a wealthy landowner who built the Woodlands mansion,which is the earliest example of the Federal style in the United States.
