Teachers have a chance this summer to move learn more about Philadelphia history AND to contribute to The Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia by registering for the summer institute Philadelphia History For Teachers. From July 16 to 20, teachers will hear lectures by renowned historians, participate in hands-on workshops, take behind-the-scenes tours, and discuss how to put this knowledge into action.
During the two weeks after the Institute, participants will create lesson plans on Philadelphia history and write an essay on a Philadelphia history topic. Essays may be selected to appear in The Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia, and lesson plans may be selected for posting to the Encyclopedia and its partners websites.
The Institute is being offered through The Professional Institute for Educators at the University of the Arts for three graduate credits. See HSP's calendar for more information.
