The Historical Society has extended its 2015 pricing on Research by Mail services through February 14, 2016. If you've been on the fence about hiring our skilled staff researchers to help you tackle a research problem, don't wait much longer!

Can't make it to Philadelphia to dig into the Historical Society's unsurpassed collections yourself? Let our staff do the digging for you.

Or perhaps you're looking for advice about how to get past a brick wall in your research? HSP's experienced researchers might be just what you need.

For a pre-paid fee, a staff researcher will work on your research topic and search through our extensive archive, collection of published materials, and digital resources. HSP holds records not just for Pennsylvania, but also for most of the colonies and states east of the Mississippi River. Sources used frequently include probate records, newspapers, church records, deeds, genealogical research files, and manuscript collections. While we cannot guarantee results, we will make every effort to help you by documenting all sources consulted during our research. Upon request, staff will also transcribe difficult to read original documents for you.

Through February 14, 2016, fees for this service are $35/hour for HSP members and $60/hour for nonmembers. There is a minimum of two hours for your initial request. The research fee includes the cost of up to 20 photocopied pages of supporting documents. Additional hours are discounted at $30/hour for HSP members and $50/hour for nonmembers.

Starting on February 15, basic research fees will change to $40/hour for HSP members and $60/hour for nonmembers, with no discounts for additional hours.
