As a part of Family History Days, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania is hosting a genealogy workshop just for teachers on March 4. If you sign up for our Family History Days on March 6th and 7th, this workshop is free!
The teacher workshop explains how two Philadelphia teachers incorporated genealogy into their own classrooms by creating a program that allowed the students to research their history, as well as researching their neighborhood history, in order for the students to form a deeper connection to their families and community. If you are interested in registering for this event, please visit our calendar page.
Genealogy is an exciting way to get students to feel that they are a part of a larger history that goes beyond themselves and their parents. Learning how other teachers are implementing genealogy within the history curriculum provides educators with a new way of making history come alive to all age groups.
