On September 27, 2012, the Young Friends of HSP hosted "A Shaken and Stirred Evening: How the American Cocktail Went Global". 90 guests attended the event, which featured a presentation on the history of the American cocktail by author and food historian Joseph Carlin. Spiga restaurant and Philadelphia Distilling provided food and cocktails, and Carlin demonstrated to the crowd how to make an authentic Fish House Punch. Guests mingled with cocktails in the Reference room and viewed a display of alcohol-related documents in the Reference room. El Vez, Absolute Art, and Modern Eye donated items that were raffled off at the end of the night.
