As part of his ongoing series 1st District Difference Makers, Senator Larry Farnese stopped by HSP's historic Library in Philadelphia's Center City neighborhood for a conversation and tour with HSP President & CEO Page Talbott.
"Our goal is to make history understandable and accessible to anyone, of any age," reported Talbott while speaking in the nearly 200-year-old building. "We are interested in the vitality of history as a discipline and this collection as a physical thing, mostly as a road to understanding how we can live better in the future."
The mission of HSP "is critically important to me," observed Farnese after taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the Library's collection vaults and conservation lab.
"When folks think about Philadelphia, they think about the Liberty Bell, they think about Independence Hall, or City Hall. But this is really Philadelphia's history right here, and to a broader extent, the history of our country," he continued.
