How can humanities—the study and practice of history, literature, and art—help veterans contextualize their role in armed conflict and to reintegrate into society? In this program, hear how participating in conversations about World War I, the Vietnam War, and the Global War on Terror through a humanities lens provided veterans, their family members, and civilians with avenues for discussion and shared understanding.
Join us to hear directly from the discussion leaders and participants who have been studying together over the past year; listen to a veteran poetry performance; and see some of the archival sources and visual art we’ve used to launch these conversations. Plus, discover how you can participate in the next year!
About the Project
The Art of Reintegration: Veterans and the Silences of War, a collaboration between HSP and Warrior Writers, has been made possible in part by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring the human endeavor. New discussion participants are invited to join in September 2019; learn more and apply here.
