From 1942–64, the U.S. government supported the importation of temporary agricultural workers from Mexico, with companies in the industrial sector engaging in similar practices. Hispanic and Latino migrants continue to play important roles in Pennsylvania agriculture and industry, but employment is not the only reason they move to Pennsylvania—quality of life matters, too.
