As we close out our season examining the history of disability rights, education and activism, HSP is hosting a document display focusing on the history of disability education in Pennsylvania.
 
People with disabilities were largely excluded from the education system until a series of reforms in the nineteenth century created specialized institutions that provided training and access to learning.
 
The exhibition features documents from several of these institutions and specialized schools, alongside the stories of pioneers in education for disabled people.
