Every year, HSP hosts a variety of genealogy-related workshops, from broad overviews to specialized programs. But did you know that we often post video and/or audio of the workshops on HSP's web site after the events have happened?

Some of the collections here at HSP aren't just useful to genealogists -- they were created by genealogists. One of these is the Batcheler, Hartshorne, and Sahlin families papers (collection 3173), which span several generations and centuries. The collection was curated by Penelope (Penny) Hartshorne Batcheler (1928-2007), a Philadelphia restoration architect who was involved in the restoration of Independence Hall in the 1960s and many other local projects.

I am posting this entry on behalf of Terry Brasko, a long-time volunteer in HSP's Conservation Department.

Andrew Boon, I know that name! I have been researching my mother’s family’s roots for years. I can quote you the dates, places of birth and death, and spouses of the entire tree right back to Johan and Helena Grelsson who landed on the shores of the Delaware River from Sweden in 1658. Those are the impersonal “facts,” but here was a name that I knew.
